I tried something new this past year — I narrated an audiobook!
It’s called Securing Canada’s Future: Vital Insights from Women Experts, edited by Aisha Ahmad and published by the University of Toronto Press.
I learned so much through this experience and highly recommend the book.
You can listen to it here: https://www.amazon.ca/Securing-Canadas-Future-Insights-Experts/dp/B0FC6ZFDHJ/ref=tmm_aud_swatch_0
Thank you to Sound Understanding for this opportunity.
"Securing Canada's Future tackles the most pressing national and international security challenges that Canada will face in the decade ahead, with insights from women who are leaders in the field of security studies.
After decades of uncontested dominance, the era of American hegemony is ending and a new multipolar world order is emerging in its place. This transformation is also occurring alongside uncontrolled climate change and the development of volatile new technologies. Together, these factors dramatically complicate the global threat landscape.
Securing Canada's Future offers a comprehensive analysis of the most serious challenges that Canada will face in the near future. Written by leading Canadian women scholars and security experts, this collection covers the most critical risks and threats on the horizon, including rising Chinese power, resurgent Russian aggression, escalating competition in the Arctic, the near irreversibility of climate change, disaster management and mitigation, evolving cybersecurity threats, and gendered violence." - https://utppublishing.com/doi/10.3138/9781487542030#:~:text=Written%20by%20leading%20Canadian%20women,change%2C%20disaster%20management%20and%20mitigation%2C
I had two fantastic days filming new commercials for Canadian Footwear in Winnipeg.
Canadian Footwear is a family-owned business that's been around since 1932!
I flew into Winnipeg to shoot two of the three commercials I pitched, wrote, produced, and am now directing for Canadian Footwear.
I’m enjoying my new job as a Commercial Writer/Producer for Corus Creative Services.
I am excited to share a sneak peek into one of the exciting projects I’m producing, writing, and directing as part of Corus’ Creative Services team!
We’re currently deep into post-production after a fantastic shoot last week with Alberta Chicken Producers and Emily Mardell, RD. This project is made up of three parts: a Trending segment, a 15-second commercial, and a 1-minute social media video. It’s been such a rewarding experience working as a Commercial Producer and Writer here at Corus.

Hi everyone:
I had a blast at the Travel Media Association of Canada's Virtual Conference "Together Towards Tomorrow".
It was so informative and the networking was excellent.
A big part of our discussions were about how we can #RestartTourism in a responsible way.
Thank you World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for presenting at the conference and to all the colleagues I met with.
I am planning new episodes of #SeeingCanada now and can’t wait to start filming when it’s safe to do so.
Cheers,
Brandy
Hi everyone:
It's been great attending Realscreen Live this week.
As a filmmaker networking and staying connected with the industry is keeping me inspired throughout this strange time.
Here's a screen grab from our "Coffee With Ruby Kuraishe, the Commissioning Editor of Entertainment at the BBC."
Ruby was so warm and funny and we learned what the BBC channels are looking for. We connected from all across the world and chatted about where we are in our creative process through this pandemic.
RealScreen Live is a conference "Connecting the unscripted and
non-fiction entertainment community online."

Thank you #banffspark for this PREMIUM pass to RealScreen Live 2021.
I am part of Cohort 2 of the #BANFFSpark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media.

Brandy

Thank you CBC for adding filmmaker Brandy Yanchyk’s documentary Breaking Loneliness to your list of “Real talk about mental illness: 8 docs to watch.”
“One of five Canadians will be diagnosed with mental illness. Here are some of their stories...
Being lonely in a world of people has sometimes been labelled an epidemic in modern society. "I think it's really important people are not embarrassed to admit they are lonely. I think there's a taboo we don't want to say we're lonely," says filmmaker Brandy Yanchyk.
According to Yanchyk, loneliness is a social epidemic impacting all age groups around the world, a problem that is now exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. She talks to real people who are finding ways to escape loneliness and social isolation by creating their own communities.”
